Golden Strike was imported from Germany as a  yearling, and stands at stud via AI only in Otago, Licensed NZWA with Principal Status- German Riding Pony Stallion.

Golden Strike – affectionately known as Clarke – has been standing at stud since 2013, first at A D Pony Stud in the North Island, before being sold to Maungatua Equestrian in March 2018. He is my main ridden horse for both dressage and jumping, however between stallion duties/ lameness and covid he has not been to a show for a few years.

Golden Strike’s pedigree is full of exceptional bloodlines, with Golden Atreju (sire) siring many licensed sons and premium mares and foals. His dam Leni is by Lucky Strike, who was also a successful showjumper in Germany.

Golden Strike is currently competing at level 4 dressage and about to make the transition to level 5. His lengthened trot is a highlight, and his naturally balanced and uphill canter is beautifully adjustable. We are sure he will passage and pirouette easily, as well as perform incredible flying changes.

Golden Strike competed up to 1.10m in Show Hunter and is showing great talent for this as well as proving his scope and technique. However it has been decided that for future competition, we will focus solely on Dressage and getting him to Level 5 and continue to move up the grades

Since moving South, Clarke’s adaptability, his unflappable nature and can-do attitude have been outstanding – something which translates in how easy and talented his foals are.
